Description: The project features several independantly usable modules in different skills. The courses are accessable via the web-based e-learning tool ILIAS.
Objective: As a key qualification, information literacy plays an important role in Bachelor€™s and Master€™s programs at the University of Konstanz. Knowledge, not only of how one can find information, but also of how the relevancy of information can be determined, is often regarded as a prerequisite for successful studies. For this reason, seminars on the topic of information literacy are already firmly anchored in the curricula of various departments. The training of information literacy is the responsibility of the University of Konstanz library, whose subject librarians conduct courses in their academic areas of specialization. The Information Literacy Project was conceived with the goal of developing and implementing a standardized education concept. It is a two-year project and is being jointly financed by the University of Konstanz and the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of the State of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The project is to combine all previous initiatives and support the subject librarians in the planning and implementation of their courses. Central to the project is the development of a modular education program for the training of information literacy.
