Description: This is a research centre based in the Department of Information Studies at Sheffield University, liaising with a newtork of researchers in other institutions. It also has a presence in the virtual world Second Life, on the island Infolit iSchool. Events are run in both worlds!

Objective: To develop the research agenda for information literacy; To carry out research; To pursue opportunities for research funding; To develop research capacity, in particular through inquiry-based educational programmes; To share discoveries, through scholarship, learning, teaching, innovation and other activities, and encourage take-up by the practitioner community; To extend and develop alliances and collaboration with the international community of information literacy researchers in furtherance of these aims.
