A concise guide and research process to doing topical library research.

The purpose of this primer is to introduce you to basic library, Internet and research concepts and to provide practice applying those concepts through interactive exercises and quizzes.

This tutorial is primarily designed for undergraduates at the University of Idaho, especially those in English 101-102, who are writing a research paper for a class. It may also be useful to other UI students who need a refresher or update on finding information. In addition, parts may be useful to students at other universities who need to learn, for example, how the Library of Congress call number system works, or how to tell the difference between article citations and book citations.

This project is an online tutorial intended to aid patrons of Milner Library, Illinois State University, in locating biographical information. The tutorial provides instruction in selecting the type of biographical information source most appropriate to one's research, efficiently and effectively locating biographical information in print and electronic sources available to Milner Library patrons as well as on the Internet, and utilizing a systematic approach to biographical research that can save the patron time and frustration.
