These interactive tutorials cover basic information literacy skills essential for a successful academic program. In addition there are a number of short tutorials explaining a very specific task. Most of them have a handout in pdf format outlining the key points of the tutorial.
This Tutorial is a self-paced instructional resource designed to assist Spring Hill College students master information literacy skills. The Pre-Test will help you assess your knowledge before you begin the Tutorial. The Lessons provide detailed instruction and are the core of the Tutorial. There is a Quiz for each lesson to test your understanding of the information presented. To take full advantage of the Tutorial you should read each lesson before you take the quizzes.
This information literacy tutorial will take you from selecting a topic to documenting resources in a style assigned by your professor. It is designed specifically for students preparing persuasive essays or speeches though portions of the tutorial will be useful for any information need. The tutorial may be used in its entirety, or individual sections may be used.

The tutorial is divided into three sections: Getting Started How to Find Information Putting It Together Each section contains several lessons, usually several pages in length, that cover essential elements in the research process. These lessons will familiarize you with types of sources you can use to find information, explain how you can make the most effective use of these resources, discuss how to evaluate the information you find, and review the appropriate conventions for citing the research of others in your own work. The tutorial can be used in a variety of ways: *By the independent learner who wishes to enhance personal research skills; *By faculty in conjunction with academic courses; *By librarians and other instructors in workshops, lab settings, or library instruction sessions. Lessons can be followed in the order listed on the Home Page, or users can pick and choose among topics they want to learn about.
This list of steps is a guideline for you to use not everyone will do these steps in the same order and you may go back and forth between them.
