The seminar organizes the working group IVIG ALCU in cooperation with the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship (IISL, Faculty of Art of the Charles University in Prague) and the Information Literacy Development Association (SPRIG). Every year is focused on a specific theme. Seminar programme involves information on IVIG group activities, speech of a foreign guest, discussion with administrative officers and teachers and examples of good practice. The afternoon workshop following lectures and discussions has become a vital and valuable part of the seminar.

he 2006 Conference of the "Committee for the Support of Libraries" will present a range of papers addressing initiatives undertaken by public libraries in Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Great Britain, the United States, Turkey and Egypt on the nature of information literacy. In addition to the formal papers the conference will include a number of workshops offering participants the opportunity for hands-on involvement in the practical development of these new literacies.

The conference traditionally traveled between central and western Canada but since 2001 has included the eastern provinces into the annual schedule. Now in its 35th year, the Workshop on Instruction in Library Use (WILU) conference has become the primary national forum for library instruction. The conference brings librarians together to share best practices and theories in all areas of information literacy.
